Family owned and operated since 1986, the Pioneer Lodge offers affordable and comfortable rooms, a friendly atmosphere,
and a piece of history for your stay in Ft. Benton, Montana.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, our building is the remodeled Pioneer Mercantile Store, originally built in 1916.

T. C. Power began his mercantile store with tents on this site in 1867. The first building was constructed in 1882. That building, and the next one Power built, both burned to the ground. So in 1916, the current building was made to last. The walls are about 18" thick and the floors are 9" of solid cement, making them nearly indestructible.

To preserve the building's historic appearance, the outside still looks like a store. But the inside is wonderfully comfortable with a spacious lobby that allows guests a panoramic view of the Missouri River, the walking levee, and the trees and hills across the way.
